Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 17, 2026 Last updated: May 17, 2026

Waqt ("we", "our", or "us") is a mindfulness application designed to help users build healthy social media habits through self-imposed limits. This Privacy Policy explains how Waqt handles user data.

Waqt does not collect, transmit, store on remote servers, or share any personal data. There are no user accounts. All information stays on your device.

1. Information We Collect

We collect nothing. Waqt does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information, usage data, or device identifiers on remote servers. There are no analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels, no third-party services, no advertising networks, and no user accounts integrated into the application.

Because Waqt does not have servers and does not collect data, we cannot identify individual users, build user profiles, or share information about you with anyone — there is simply nothing to share.

2. Family Controls and Screen Time Data

Waqt uses Apple's Family Controls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings frameworks to enable its core mindfulness features:

This data is processed entirely on-device by Apple's system frameworks. Waqt does not have access to raw usage statistics, app identifiers, or browsing history beyond what is required to operate the rules you configure locally. No screen time data ever leaves your device.

3. Permissions

When you first launch Waqt, you will be asked to grant Family Controls authorization. This authorization is required for Waqt to function. The authorization is granted to the app on your individual device only — it does not enable parental control, remote management, or multi-user monitoring.

You may revoke this authorization at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time → Apps That Can See Activity.

4. Data Storage

All app data — including your selected rules, mode preferences, usage counters, and reduction settings — is stored locally on your device via SwiftData and the iOS App Group container. None of this data is transmitted to Waqt's servers (there are no servers) or to any third party. Uninstalling the app removes all associated data.

5. Notifications

Waqt sends local notifications (check-ins, limit reminders) using Apple's UserNotifications framework. These notifications are generated on-device and do not involve any external servers or push-notification infrastructure.

6. Third-Party Services

Waqt does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics providers, advertising networks, crash-reporting services, or social networks.

7. Apple App Store and TestFlight

Although Waqt itself does not collect data, Apple collects certain information independently when you download or use apps from the App Store. This includes installation events, purchase history, and aggregate crash diagnostics. This collection is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and occurs outside of Waqt's control.

If you participate in the Waqt beta via TestFlight, Apple may additionally collect crash logs, feedback submissions, and basic usage telemetry through the TestFlight service. We may receive these crash reports and feedback through TestFlight to diagnose issues. Such information is technical in nature and not used to identify you personally.

8. Children's Privacy

Waqt is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to us, please contact us — though as noted, we do not maintain user accounts or collect personal data.

9. Your Rights (GDPR — European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to:

Because Waqt does not collect or store any personal data on our servers, most of these rights are inherently satisfied — we hold no data to access, export, or delete. For data Apple collects through the App Store or TestFlight, please contact Apple directly.

10. Your Rights (CCPA — California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, to opt out of its sale, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

Waqt does not collect, sell, share, or rent personal information. We do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no personal information for us to disclose or delete.

11. International Users

Waqt is available worldwide through the Apple App Store. Because no data is transmitted off your device, there are no international data transfers performed by Waqt. Local laws of your country of residence apply to your personal data, which remains exclusively on your device under your own control.

12. Security

We rely on the security features built into iOS, including app sandboxing, encrypted storage, and the secure App Group container, to protect your on-device data. We recommend keeping your device updated to the latest version of iOS and using a device passcode to maintain the security of your data.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last Updated" and "Effective Date." Continued use of the app after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
